An email I recieved:The Last Poets:August 11:Marcus Garvey Park

Hello everyone, I want to invite you all to be a part of history. Over the past few months the Last Poets have been on quite a journey, sold out performances in South Africa, massive concerts throughout Europe, and most recently, moving the crowd at Caribana in Toronto. Now they are back home and ready to embark on an even more significant journey. A brief history lesson on the Last Poets will reveal that the group was born on May 19, 1968 (the anniversary of Malcolm X's birthday) in Mt. Morris Park, Harlem, NY (which has since been renamed to Marcus Garvey Park). Well I am proud to announce that the Last Poets have come full circle and next Thursday, August 11th, they will once again be performing in their birthplace, Mt Morris Park, in what, undoubtedly, will be a historical event for the ages!
